Cinderella signed her name C.A. Rogers as it was too long to write out in long hand. I have heard my Dad, William Kelley, tell of the time his family traveled from eastern Colorado to Anderson, MO to visit their Grandmother Rogers. She asked my Dad and his brother, Everett, to gather chips so she could start a fire in the house to keep them warm. The boys were well into their teens at this time. They returned to report they could not find any chips. They thought she wanted cow chips, as they were accustomed to using in eastern Colorado, but she really wanted wood chips.
Notes for RUSSELL CLARK ROGERS:
Russell Clark Rogers' father died when he was 3 years old. He was raised by his aunt (name unknown). Russell had one brother Oliver and one sister known as Sissy (name unknown). Russell's father, William, was in the gold rush. He and other men floated down the Mississippi River on rafts to somewhere in Missouri and started out overland with Oxen for California, He (Russells father William) took sick with pneumonia and was left for dead. Later he got better and set out alone with a 2 wheeled cart and one team of oxen. Upon reaching California he took a back set and died in 1852. (This information sent to me from Bob Rogers after getting the data from a Bible that belonged to Hazel Rogers, wife of Albert and their son Jack)
