SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE TRIED TO VERIFY THE DATA FLOYD USED AND UPDATED WITH DATA I HAVE GATHERED AND ALSO FROM FAMILY MEMBERS ALONG THE WAY. YES, THERE ARE MISTAKES AND OMISSIONS IN PLACES AND I HAVE CORRECTED THOSE I HAVE FOUND AND BEEN ABLE TO SECURE THE CORRECT DATA. THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENT REFLECTS ALL DATA I HAVE GATHERED AND RECIEVED FROM FLOYD AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SUBMITTED DATA TO THE LDS FAMILY HISTORY CENTER, THE WORLD FAMILY TREE PROJECT, AND THOSE WHO HAVE SENT DATA DIRECTLY TO ME. WITHOUT YOUR HELP THIS PAGE WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE. FLOYD'S NOTES

1. Joseph Zangker, wife Marie Ann and son Joseph M. came to the U.S. in 1818. Joseph M. was six weeks old on arrival, having been born April 19, 1818, in Switzerland. The list of Joseph and Marie's children as remembered by Mr. Bickel in 1950. He had known the Joseph M. Zongker family all his life. He could not remember all the names of Joseph M. sisters and brothers or the order of births at that time. Later he gave me the additional information on this, but it was left behind by movers and lost.

I have found documents of a "Zonker" family having arrived before 1790. This lends credibility to the rumor that an uncle was in the U.S.A. before Joseph arrived. I had heard that this uncle had made three or more trips back to Germany to recruit those willing to migrate to the U.S.A. No record found to support this.

Joseph and Marie Zongker from Germany, visited relatives in Switzerland before continuing onto the U.S.A. Joseph M. was born there and was six weeks old on arrival in Philadelphia (about June 1, 1818)

Joseph Zanker and wife Elizabeth (Rode) came to the U.S.A. from Switzerland in 1818. Their oldest son Anthony Zonker was born at Lancaster, PA Sept. 23, 1818. The Zongkers' of Steuben County Indiania referred to the Zonkers' of DeKalb County as cousins. This brings up the possibility that Joseph Zongker and Joseph Zonker were in fact first cousins, and that they were first cousins to the Zonkers b. in Stratford, Township, New York.

Until recently I thought Zonker was a misspelling of Zongker. That only one family came over. Now I have definite documentation of two or more families migrating, but there is reason to believe they were possibly related.

END FLOYD'S NOTES

The following I found in the Family Tree Maker's World Family tree Vol. 19 and 24. It was submitted by one of our own. They were in contact with a professional genalogist by the name of Alexander Roth whom resided in Lucern, Switzerland and got their information from his research, both the Zangger and Roth families. For the earlier generations there will be no numbering system but will use * to denote our direct anscestors. Gettnau, Switzerland is located in the county of Lucern. EKZ
